Murder in the first [Film]

dir. by Marc Rocco ; written by Dan Gordon

When Henri is caught trying to escape from Alcatraz he is put into solitary confinement for several years emerging as a tortured mad man. In a deluded rage he murders an inmate and then has to convince the jury that his horrific treatment is to blame. Inspired by the true story of Alcatraz inmate Henri Young. Many of the ideas in the movie were taken directly from newspaper articles of the trials, including the ending scene where the jury only convicts Young of manslaughter, and requests that Alcatraz be investigated. The excellent work put in by Kevin Bacon, Christian Slater and Gary Oldman give the film an undeniable core.
